charting new waters

Thursday, November 10, 2016
Sponsors:
The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread and United Way of Racine County
Goals:

In September 2016, United Way of Wisconsin unveiled its first statewide ALICE Report, a data-driven, comprehensive research project upending the conventional view of Wisconsin. United Way calls this newly revealed demographic ALICE, an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. Prior to this report, ALICE was a population and community issue without a name or face. ALICE represents the nearly 670, 922 men and women of all ages and races who get up each day to go to work, but who aren't sure if they'll be able to put dinner on the table each night. ALICE is your child care worker, home health aide, store clerk, and office assistant - all workers essential to you and to our community's success. We all have a vested interest in improving conditions for ALICE – their everyday struggles reach beyond personal trials to impact the wider community. This event will include an overview of the ALICE Report data with specific focus on Racine County.
